Holly Woods Studio!!
Hollywood comes to Cobourg… In the form of a little glamour, and whole lot of an awesome human being!!
I feel like I start most of my posts apologizing for being super late – but peeps, I seriously feel awful that it takes so long!! So this post is no different… Erin and I visited the lovely Hollllly Wooooods (in my head I’m basically announcing it – like on stage… but not like a gentleman’s club kinda stage just so we’re clear!!) back in June… and of course we want to share all of the details with you!!
Before I begin, many peeps have asked why Erin and I do this – as if it’s not blatantly obvious (we totally say that inside our heads, tho)!! We absolutely adore the small towns that surround us. Erin is as close to born and bred as they get (30+ years… I actually didn’t know this until I wrote this!!), and I’m also a transplant of 18 years – and we could not envision life anywhere else!! So to be able to share some of our favourite places within our kickass community, is a whole lot of an amazing way to show our appreciation!!
Now I KNOW you’re asking yourself (much like I did), who is this chick that thinks she’s all that and a bag of peanuts, calling herself Holly Woods – like she’s some kinda gift from God to the glamour industry?? But my friends – it’s like her for real REAL name!! Formerly Miss Holly Parker, yes that’s right, she is THE King of Real Estate’s sis… I’m sure Holly was elated when she could shake that monkey off her back and hitch-up with a Woods!! ???? Clearly it was fate that brought Blake into her life, and our small town even luckier that HOLLY WOODS STUDIO opened in Cobourg on April 1st!! Whether you know Holly, or not, you will IMMEDIATELY feel comfortable with her. If you swear like a trucker (Holla!) you will feel even more comfortable dropping those F-bombs LIKE-A-BOSSSS!! It always makes me feel better when a gal can reciprocate my well-rounded verbage (I don’t know if they’re actually a verb!?).
How many times have you wanted your make-up done for a special occasion, and thought, there’s NO WHERE LOCAL TO GO!? I have thought this numerous times – as in, DAILY… as I muddle through my lack-lustre make-up routine!! But for realsies, often I would love a helping hand to feel that much better, that much more put together, and feel a little more special in my own skin. Or perhaps I just need a great teacher – AHEM, make-up lessons, are also on Holly’s service menu!! Never discount how good you feel with actual eye shadow that is put on with purpose, instead of like the 3 year old who has yet to master colouring in the lines. The fact that Holly can do that, basically makes her WonderWoman in my books (I impress easily!!). Marilyn Monroe may have said, “A smile is the best make-up any girl can wear”… but I’m pretty certain she was bent over her mirror applying another coat of lipstick. ???? So I say, if it feels good, DO IT. And if you’re feeling good inside and out… I believe that equates to a whole lot of perfection.
Want a flawless look? Who doesn’t? Holly offers an airbrushing product called NV, which is a primer/foundation/concealer & bronzer. Hello the best of all worlds!! This bombdotcom (OMG, I’m so 2015!) product even covers tattoos… you have no idea how excited this makes me!! Does it come by the barrel-full!!?? Dunkerooooo!!

So, I know you’re thinking, when can I get in to see Holly!? In a nutshell – she’s ready when you are!! Holly is in her studio, BY APPOINTMENT… and accommodating your schedule is her specialty!! When Holly isn’t in the studio, she’s on location for photoshoots, weddings, and other special events. So the moral of this story, book this babe. Ahead of time – to follow you as you hit the grocery store, a touch-up while you wait for your oil change, and obvi you’ll need her to do your nudey photoshoot… or “boudoir” if you wanna use the fancy title!!

What’s even greater than a polished face?? How about the rest of ya!? Although Holly’s specialty, and absolute fave item on her long list of services offered, is make-up application, she also does waxing (no bumkini’s here tho!! You’ll have to give Nourish a call for that!! ???? ), manis, pedis, facials, and micro-blading!! Disclaimer: I might be missing a whack-load of additional services!! (I sell real estate… my note-taking…meh!)

It’s a semi-permanent eyebrow tattoo. Small, hair strokes are created to replicate the natural look of brows. 2-3 initial appointments are needed, with a touch-up at the 2 year mark. It’s really kinda incredible for those that have little to no brows from years of over plucking, or just very light brows and looking for more definition that you don’t have to pencil in… every.single.day. I’ve seen what it’s done for one’s confidence, and I highly recommend the procedure!!

Holly is also an instructor with Paramita – the #1 Private Academy for Make-Up in Canada. Wanna be certified to not be a crappy make-up artist – give Holly a H-O-L-L-A!!! Did you see what I did there!? Ingenious marketing!!

So, with the tons of proms that took place not too long ago, and wedding season in full bloom, Holly is a busy little beaver. But do not fear!! There is plenty of Holly to go around – just make sure you book in advance for girl’s night out (or is it husband’s night in!?), a special event, the Hospital Gala… or just because you wanna feel pretty.
No visit to any of our favourite places is complete without intensive product and service trials… perhaps the real reason we head on our local adventures!!?? Let’s just stop right here for a PSA – before you leave Holly’s studio, you MUST ask to borrow her Diva Ring. Note, it’s not a means of birth control, or some kinky sex toy, but THE most incredible light!! I could so selfie the shit right outta town with that light beside me!! It takes you from VA-VA to VOOM in milliseconds!!

So… we love Holly. And we know you will too. You wanna feel pretty. Holly will do whatever it takes to make you feel just that!
