So here’s the crazy thing about giving… whether it’s of your time, or money, or both… if you do it with great intent, you are bound to get so much more personally, emotionally, even spiritually, in return.
I took on a huge challenge this year… much bigger than I anticipated. I poured my heart into it, and treated it as if it was my only goal In life. From my perspective,

if I was going to commit to walking 100kms in the Sahara Desert, I was going to make damned sure it was well worth my time, and that of Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre.
I began a year ago, with a ridiculous fundraising goal… $20,000. A pipe dream, but somewhere to start. By the end of December, I had already increased that to $25,000 – and then this past summer, I figured $30,000 sounded like a cool idea.
From Flocking, to Beach Bars, to walking from Cobourg to Belleville, to Lip Syncing at @el_caminocobourg , to Buck a Beer at George & Orange, to my absolute fav Local AF tees (there are still some avail The Local Bloom & Hercs Cobourg!) it’s been a whirlwind of fundraising ideas, all supported by this community.
With $35,000 now RAISED, I bow to you Thank you for rallying around me this past year. Thank you for making Cornerstone a conversation at the dinner table and realizing the relevance a shelter holds in our community.
So I asked, what the heck does $35k equate to for Cornerstone, you might wonder!!??
• 280 nights = 40 weeks = 10 months of shelter
• or… 1400 community counselling hours which would help approx. 60 women or children receive counselling for 6 months
• or… it would fund 35, 10 week workshops or groups
In a community where support is needed by so many non-profit organizations, I truly appreciate you supporting any one of my crazy ideas, and that of the incredible local businesses who stepped forward without question.
I am a lucky gal, and I am overjoyed that Cornerstone gets to reap those rewards.
